US consumer prices edge up by a modest 0.3%

Washingtong, D.C., United States (AHN) – Consumer prices rose by 0.3 percent in September with fuel costs going up the most, the United States Labor Department says.
However, strip out the more volatile fuel and food prices and U.S. consumer prices only increased by 0.1 percent.
Fuel prices increased by 2.9 percent and food prices rose by 0.4 percent compared to a month earlier.
The easing of consumer inflation makes it possible for the Federal Reserve to attempt to stimulate the economy more, if it chooses to do that.
