“Peace In Young Life” Group Helps Clean Up
College Hill Courts got a spring cleaning Friday. Volunteers with “Peace In Young Life” raked and picked up trash at the housing project. They hope to inspire the residents to do more in their own community. Several residents helped, and later they had a program with spiritual testimonies and food. Group Founder Mitzi Gaines says, “I think once people find out that they can do something to make a difference in their own community, that they do have a voice, and that they can be on the decision making piece of it. I think that will empower them more to get jobs to take care of their families, their children, and teach them at the same time to do the same thing.” The group hopes to do this in other public housing too. They hope to plant flowers at College Hill Courts next time.
