Oregon woman clocked at 103 mph

SALEM — An Oregon woman was jailed for reckless driving after she attempted to elude a Marion County deputy near Salem, reaching 103 mph before stopping, police said. The woman also “light-heartedly asked if the deputy would just take some cash, as she really needed to get going,” according to Don Thomson. Kalisha Mashadda, 28, of Stayton, was first clocked at 82 mph by Deputy Ethan Griffith at about 10:30 p.m., Thomson said. She was driving southbound on Interstate 5, near the Market Street exit. Griffith reported that Mashadda was tailgating and making fast, unsafe lane changes on the wet roadway. When he attempted to pull her over she sped up. When Mashadda finally pulled over, she “offered no reason for her driving, but indicated she really didn’t want to get a ticket,” Thomson said. She jokingly offered a bribe, said Thomson, and Griffith reminded her of the penalties for bribing a police officer. Then he arrested her and booked her in the Marion County Jail. Mashadda was charged with reckless driving, speeding in excess of 100 mph, following too closely, unsafe passing and failure to carry proof of insurance. She was held on more than $7,000 total bail for the charges.
